Swimming pool
You are the same age as the dawn, how come
in the shine before the sun has time to shake out its sheets
At this hour toil prepares breakfast
otherness washes its face
the dew cleans health’s gate
and the white houses tie the morrow to their wrists
Sorrow’s hot-water bottles wrap themselves round joyful widows
at this hour lilies turn their mouths seawards
for the bruised times to cease blackening the waves
In your hands the clouds are bride chalks, how come
the future’s whispers are a heavy sea
your silence spoils the place, your nights sparkle
I keep on finding you different
under your skirt burns a red shore
how can you hide from other girls, how can you escape
from their stiletto-heeled deserts
when you glow with passion
They have abandoned you on clean lines, how can you
entice timid fields
how undo the spell cast over unguarded crossings
how rub fever on the face of darkness
Sin is baking on your back
wealth embroiders gold repentances
Comets rest on your navel
stars drink light
Your extra flame fills the gaps of justice
Where dawn doesn’t speak, sorrow lays its eggs
your right hand goes numb and the knees grow hazy
nations rise and light the craters
lest the human body is gagged in a shallow swimming pool
I can no longer reach behind your fence to see
I cut tenderness into confetti and distribute it
to the winds of your courtyard
but You
out of the towers you are a princess
out of the mind’s water, a drowning
out of the light, luminance
Είναι κάτι μέρες, λέει ο ποιητής, που νιώθω απ'το κεφάλι μέχρι τα πόδια σαν αχίλλειος πτέρνα.
